Firehouse Arts & Events Center in Fairhaven

A gentle Hatha Yoga class exploring a combination of mind-body practices designed to increase health and wellness in all aspects of being. We will be incorporating movement with breath to engage active strength, mobility, and relaxation. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace.

  • Students are encouraged to bring the following:
    -Yoga mat
    -Yoga block
    -Strap
    -Blanket

  • Cost:
    -First class: $15.00 cash, check or Venmo. $15.50 card.
    -Drop in: $18.00 cash, check or Venmo. $18.50 card.
    -Five class punch card: $80.00 cash, check or Venmo. $82.00 card.
    (Expires after 3 months)

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early to get set up prior to class.

  • Come prepared with a signed waiver.

Thursdays

Whatcom Family YMCA in Bellingham.

9:15 to 10:30 a.m.

A somatic hatha yoga class with breathing practices and movement that incorporates active strength and stretching followed by guided relaxation. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace.

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Yoga for Healing

A 60 minute, gentle, yoga class for individuals recovering from, or working with, a long-term health diagnosis such as cancer, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, or a similar challenge. Exploring a combination of mind-body practices to bring greater health and wellness into all levels of being. We will begin each practice in chairs and progress to standing poses, ending with a deep relaxation on the floor.

Through targeted breath, movement, and meditation, we will address the following side-effects in a supportive and non-clinical environment:

  • Pain

  • Lymphedema and Immunity

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Insomnia

  • Under Digestion

  • Fatigue

  • Cognitive Fog

  • Neuropathy

*Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, yoga block and strap

We will begin each practice in chairs and progress to standing poses, ending with a deep relaxation on the floor.

Jessie Lu Galbraith offers private yoga sessions, in-person and via zoom, focusing on individuals working with long-term health challenges like cancer and Parkinson’s disease, survivors, and their supporting care givers, proving space and tools to safely connect with the body, mind and spirit. A certified yoga instructor with years of experience, Jessie Lu combines decades of yoga practice, a lifetime of meditation, and a desire to help people find places of comfort and strength. In addition to scheduling private classes, Jessie Lu also teaches group yoga classes at the Whatcom Family YMCA, the Firehouse Arts & Events Center, and the PeaceHealth Cancer Center in Bellingham, WA.
